Top Quality
Our coffee is roasted by Johan & Nyström, our specialty coffee roastery, which places strong emphasis on craftsmanship, traceability and long‑term relationships with producers. Their approach is built on careful, patient roasting, where flavour development and quality are prioritised through tailored roast profiles and continuous tasting. The roastery, located in Länna south of Stockholm, is considered one of Europe’s most advanced specialty coffee roasteries and supports consistent, high‑quality production across all our markets.
We roast all the coffee that is served in our shops across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Germany. The roasting process focuses on bringing out the unique character of each coffee, with methods designed to preserve aroma and taste.
In 2025, Espresso House Group roasted approximately 1,500 tonnes of specialty‑grade coffee, enough for around 140 million cups served to our guests.
Responsible Sourcing
All our green coffee is 100 per cent responsibly sourced through independent verification by Enveritas, a non‑profit organisation that conducts detailed farm‑level assessments in coffee‑producing regions. Their verification covers social, environmental and economic conditions, helping to identify sustainability issues and improvement needs across origins. Enveritas uses methodologies that include satellite‑based landscape analysis and visits to smallholder farms worldwide.
Enveritas’ model allows farmers of all sizes to participate, as the organisation is funded by coffee roasters rather than producers. This contributes to more inclusive access to sustainability verification.
Our green coffee buyer visits several of the farms we source from each year, complementing Enveritas’ assessments with direct engagement and insight. These visits support long‑term relationships and a deeper understanding of the conditions behind our coffee.
Freshly Roasted
Coffee varieties are sourced from different origins, each with its own harvesting season. This enables us to roast freshly harvested coffee throughout the year. Through Johan & Nyström, our roastery works continuously to refine roast profiles, cup new lots and adjust techniques to highlight flavour and character.
Their roastmasters experiment, taste and evaluate each batch to ensure that every coffee is roasted according to its unique potential. This approach reflects their philosophy of combining passion, quality and long‑term partnerships with producers.
Our Roastery
All our coffee is roasted at our own roastery in Länna, south of Stockholm. The facility was completed in 2017 and is designed to support efficient production, reliable capacity and high quality roasting. It is one of Europe’s most modern specialty coffee roasteries, integrating storage, roasting and packaging in a streamlined process. The roastery team focuses on craftsmanship and consistency, using carefully developed roast profiles and a patient roasting method that helps preserve aroma and flavour. This work forms the foundation of the coffee served across all Espresso House shops.
It takes time, but it's worth waiting for! At our roastery you find passionate, coffee-loving people who believe in producing and serving the best coffee in the world. We're committed to craft roasting, using a slow roasting method with individually conceived roast profiles to ensure that every batch of beans is roasted to perfection. Roasting slowly and at low temperatures preserves the unique aroma and fantastic taste of each individual coffee variety.
